PC3 - Creating The Product Part 2 - The Presentation

Mar 27th, 2008 | By Stacie | Category: Product Creation

Once you know where you are going to get your content you need to decide how you are going to present it. Some of your options:

  • Written: eBooks and reports, transcription of audio or video
  • Audio: Remember recording earlier?
  • Video: Create tutorials or how to
  • Use a combination of any and/or all of the options

There are several ways you can use those options to create a unique product for your niche. I'll go through a few scenarios, just to get your creative juices flowing.

We are gong to use the gardening niche again. If you remember earlier we 'found' the question about orchids. So we are gong to create a product that addresses how to plant orchids.

  • Create an eBook that has illustrations in it to demonstrate how to plant orchids. Including a lot of how tos and tips and tricks for your customer will make an excellent product. Make sure you are giving more value than your customer is expecting.
  • Now we are going to focus on audio. You can include an audio version of your eBook. Now really give this some thought, your customer may just buy because of the audio. If you create a mp3 version that they can download to their iPod, they can listen to your step by step instructions while they are in their garden.
  • Now if you really want to take your product up a notch, then create a video to go along with the eBook and audio version. You can create a simple slide show of digital photographs demonstrating each step. Or if you really want to get your customer's attention get a video camera and record the steps.

As you can see you can get very creative and create 'three' products with the same content, just presented in different ways. You can create this product in levels as well. Level one is the written form, level two is with the audio, and level three is all components in one package, charging a different price for each level.

Now don't worry, I'm not going to leave you floundering around wondering 'how' to create this content. The next part I'm going to share with you some of the tools that I use to create products.

For the written part I recommend using Open Office. This is a free open source application that replaces the Microsoft products. And just a side note, I have both Open Office and Word and I prefer using Open Office. If you need to know how to use Open Office to make a really good looking product then you can check out Professional PDFs Tutorial (at a special price just for readers of TNHZ).

Ok, that takes care of the written part, what about the audio? The program I use is another free one that is very powerful, Audacity. If you are a little intimidated by doing audio, like I was, then do yourself a favor and pick up a copy of Niche Podcasting. Although he addresses podcasting (which is something you need to seriously look into and we will cover more in depth later) it is an excellent tutorial on recording audio. It is what I used to learn how to create great audio. And believe me if I can learn how to do it, any one can, and this guide will help.

Now that brings us to video. I use Camtasia Studio to create screen capture or slide show presentations. But if you do not want to spend that kind of money then you can download CamStudio. This is another free open source program. Now I have to honestly tell you, I have never used it, but I have seen some really good reviews of it. Now to help you along with creating videos I have another tutorial that I highly recommend: Recipe For Producing Hot Video Tutorials by Kevin Riley (you will see me recommend a lot of products by Kevin, I'm a huge fan).

I have given you quite a bit to think about, some decisions to make and the tools to get it all done. It is now time to take some action and get started creating your product! Make sure you check out all the tools and find the right ones for you to use. This will probably take you some time to complete, but don't forget to check back for the next step. Or better yet subscribe to the RSS feed, so you don't miss out.
